On a trip to Japan in December 2017 I visited Matsuyama with my partner. We had planned on going to the famous Dogo onsen but my partner got flu so we headed back to Nagoya by train. The train from Matsuyama runs along the coast of Shikoku then across a string of islands to Okayama on the main island. I love looking at the landscape going by on a train journey and decided to use my phone to try and capture the journey in pictures. I’m always fascinated by the scenery I see from train windows, even more so in a different country. Japan has a unique look to it, both in it’s architecture and the way the landscape and cultivated fields look.
I didn’t look at the pictures until I got back to the UK but the phone had done a surprisingly good job, however I had no idea what I wanted to do with them. Recently I looked at them again and decided to make a zine with them. This will be the first zine I have tried to make and if I finally get it printed it might be for sale here on the website.
